I Am Praying For________?

In what areas do you need God to move in your life right now??

James 4:2-3 declares, “…. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.”

My brothers and sisters, motives are so important, and sometimes we can be blinded and not see them in our own hearts. Thankfully, God is not blind, and he is willing to expose motives if you ask him. So today, before you pray or do anything, let’s pray what David prayed: “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting (Psalm 139:23-24).”

I fully believe if you always ask God to search your heart, He will reveal wrong motives. With this, you can be confident that your motives are right. With the right motives, you position yourself to pray correctly.

Having said that, this doesn’t mean God will always answer exactly the way you want. He is God, after all, He has plan and His ways and thoughts are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9)! Undoubtedly, when our motives are right we can be certain and trust that what He has is going to be the best answer anyway.

At the end of the day, if there is something you want, you need to ask God for it. There is no guarantee that you will get it, but it is the best possible chance you have, and prayer will keep you within God’s will. When you have submitted your will to His, you will be satisfied with what He gives you!
