Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing.” — John 15:5 (NIV)
In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it is easy to become self-reliant, thinking we can handle everything on our own. However, the truth is, we need Jesus every single day. Just as a branch cannot survive or bear fruit without the vine, we cannot thrive or fulfill our purpose without remaining connected to Christ.
Jesus’ words in John 15:5 remind us of our dependence on Him. He is the source of our strength, wisdom, and guidance. When we abide in Him, we find the nourishment our souls crave. Apart from Him, we can do nothing of lasting significance.
I invite you to reflect on your day-to-day activities and ask yourself, “Am I trying to go through life on my own strength, or am I staying connected to Jesus?” When we make time for prayer, immerse ourselves in Scripture, and seek His presence, we align our lives with His will. This connection transforms us, enabling us to bear the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
My beloved brothers and sisters (aka branches), if you feel like you’re disconnected from the Vine (aka the Source of life), I invite you to take a moment to pause and reconnect with Jesus. Sometimes, it’s just as simple as acknowledging your need for Him in every aspect of your life. Whether you are facing challenges, making decisions, or simply going through the motions, invite Jesus to be your strength, wisdom, and guide.
Pray with me:
Father God, I confess that I often try to navigate life on my own. Jesus, help me to remember that apart from You, I can do nothing. I need You every single day. Holy Spirit, teach me to remain in Jesus, to draw my strength from Him, and to bear fruit that glorifies God. Thank You for being my constant source of strength, wisdom, and guidance. In Jesus name, amen, amen, and amen!
