Undoubtedly, we have all been taught that failure(s) is a sign that we are not good enough. However, the Bible is filled with stories of individuals who experienced failure yet were mightily used by God. Today we will highlight the Apostle Paul, Apostle Peter, and Prophet Moses. If you don’t know Paul’s story I invite you to read Acts 9. However, check out God’s response to one of Paul’s failure (thorn) in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “’My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
Now I invite you to consider Peter, one of Jesus’ closest disciples. Peter was passionate and eager, but he failed Jesus at a critical moment by denying Him three times. Despite this, Jesus restored Peter and used him to build the early church (John 21:15-19).
Last but not certainly least, Moses, chosen to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, initially failed when he killed an Egyptian and fled to the desert. Yet, God called him back and empowered him to fulfill his destiny (Exodus 3-4).
My brothers and sisters, these rag-to-riches stories inspirationally and inspiringly remind us that our failures do not disqualify us from God’s purpose. In fact, they can become the very means through which His strength and grace are displayed. When we acknowledge our weaknesses and depend on Him, we allow His power to work through us. If you have experienced failure in your life I want you to remember that God’s grace is sufficient, and His power is perfected in your weaknesses. Remember that He can use your failures to fulfill His purposes.
Pray with me:
Father God, thank You for using imperfect people to accomplish Your perfect plans. Help us to see my failures as opportunities for Your grace and power to be revealed. Strengthen us in our weaknesses and use our lives for Your glory. In Jesus name, amen and amen!!
