Unfortunately, life often brings us involuntary challenges that leave us feeling broken, shattered, and lost. Yet, no matter how deep our wounds, how broken and shattered our circumstances, or how impossible our situation seems, God’s presence, power, peace, and  promises are more than sufficient to restore us.

When I lost my beloved twin brother on 4/17/2022, it felt like a part of me had been ripped to shreds and torn away. The pain was so incredibly deep, and the sense of loss was insurmountably overwhelming. But in those moments of profound grief, I found great comfort in God’s promise in Psalm 147:3, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Undoubtedly, God became my refuge, gently mending the pieces of my broken and shattered heart with His love, comfort, and compassion. 

In Jeremiah 30:17 God promises, “But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord.” Even in the midst of my deep sorrow, I know  that I can cleave to this assurance. Though sometimes it’s a little difficult to see, I know God is working to bring restoration—not just to my spirit, but also to my faith and hope.

You see, God’s restoration doesn’t always mean that everything returns to how it was before, but it does mean that He gives us the strength to move forward and find beauty in life once more. Isaiah 61:3 speaks of this transformation: “…to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.” Yes, I am still traveling though this journey called grief, but I am thankful that through God’s unmerited, unlimited, and unfailing grace, I am able to  see that even in the ashes of loss, God is indeed crafting something beautiful within me.

So, my brothers and sisters remember, no situation is beyond God’s ability to restore. Trust in His power, lean on His promises, and watch as He turns your brokenness into a testimony of His supernatural love, comfort, peace, and grace.
