It’s not a secret, the world too often presents us with situations that seem insurmountably challenging, daunting, overwhelming, or even impossible. The storms of life—whether they be marital, relational, financial struggles, health issues, or personal loss—can obscure our vision, making it difficult to see beyond the immediate. In these moments, it is easy to forget the promises God has made to us. We might start to doubt, question, and even fear the future because our current reality does not align with what we believe God has spoken over our lives.
But as followers of Christ and according to 2 Corinthians 5:7, “we are called to live by faith and not by sight.” The reality is what we see immediately in front of us is only temporary and subject to change, but what God has says in His word is eternal and unchanging. God’s Word is the only firm foundation we have to stand on, and His promises are trustworthy, regardless of trial, situations, and circumstances that we face on a daily basis.
My brothers and sisters, consider the story of Peter walking on water (Matthew 14:28-31). As long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he was able to walk on the water. But the moment he looked at the wind and waves around him, he began to sink. The same is true for us—when we focus on our circumstances, we may begin to doubt and lose heart. But when we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and remember His words, we can rise above the challenges.
Pray With Me:
Father God, help us to trust in Your Word above all else. When we are tempted to focus on the challenges and circumstances around us, remind us of Your steadfast and unwavering promises. Strengthen our faith so that we may walk by faith and not by sight, knowing that You are faithful to fulfill what You have spoken. In Jesus’ name, we invoke the Spirit of compassion, truth, wisdom, and understanding in and through our respective lives; Amen and Amen and Amen!
