His Sheep Knows His Voice!

Imagine the scene: A young man is sparring blindfolded, unaware of the life-changing moment unfolding right in front of him. His father, whom he thought was still away on deployment, quietly steps in and begins sparring with him. The son hears the voice, faintly familiar, but hesitates to believe it. The father speaks again, and suddenly, recognition dawns. Gloves are thrown off, and the son rushes into an embrace that speaks louder than words—a reunion of love, joy, and peace.

This beautiful moment reminds us of what Jesus says in John 10:27: “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” Like the son in the story, we often move through life blindfolded—distracted, uncertain, or caught up in the motions. Yet, our Good Shepherd continually calls to us. His voice is distinct, filled with love and familiarity, waiting for us to recognize Him amidst the noise.

When we finally stop and truly hear His voice, the realization of His presence overwhelms us. We drop everything—our fears, doubts, hurts, frustrations, and distractions—and run into His embrace. And just like the father in the story, Jesus doesn’t hold back. He welcomes us with open arms, delighting in the relationship we share.

The key is to know His voice. We learn to recognize it through prayer, reading His Word, and walking in step with His Spirit. The more time we spend with Him, the more unmistakable His voice becomes, even in the chaos of life.

My brothers and sisters, today, pause and listen. Is the Shepherd calling you to step closer to Him? Is He speaking words of comfort, encouragement, or guidance? Throw off the “gloves” of doubt and embrace Him fully.

Pray with me:
Jesus, thank You for being the Good Shepherd who knows me and calls me by name. Help me to recognize Your voice amidst the noise of this world. Teach me to trust You, follow You, love you, and rest in the joy of Your embrace. Amen.
