A Prayer For Texas Families and Communities Affected By The Texas Floods.

Gracious and Merciful God,

We come before You today shaken by the storm that has struck so many lives in Texas. Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of over a hundred souls—children, parents, sisters, brothers, and friends—whose lives were cut short by rising waters. In the wake of this tragedy, we lift our cries to You, the One who sees every tear and holds every sorrow. Lord, be near to the brokenhearted. Bring comfort to those whose grief is still raw, and strength to those who are barely holding on. Walk closely with the families who are still waiting for news, whose hope flickers in uncertainty, and whose pain feels unbearable.

We ask for Your mercy to surround the communities devastated by this flood—especially the families of young children lost at Camp Mystic, whose innocence was swallowed by a river that rose too fast. There are no words that can fill the space left by their absence. But You, O God, are present in every shattered place. You are the healer of hearts and the restorer of what’s been lost. Bring peace that surpasses understanding. Bring healing that defies logic. Bring the light of Your presence into this dark valley.

And Lord, do not let us remain bystanders to this pain. Let our faith not rest in comfort, but compel us toward compassion. Awaken us, stir us, move us to action. Break our hearts for what breaks Yours, and teach us what it means to carry one another’s burdens. Help us not only to feel—but to serve, to give, and to go. May we be the ones who show up when the waters rise, who give when needs feel too great, and who stand beside the hurting when others turn away.

We pray for every first responder, every volunteer, every rescuer still in the field. Give them strength beyond their own, and protect their bodies, minds, and hearts as they wade through wreckage and search for the missing. Sustain them through exhaustion. Bless their hands with purpose and precision. And may their work be fruitful in both recovery and comfort.

Jehovah Nissi, we also pray that this tragedy would not pass silently or fade from memory once the waters recede. Let this be a turning point—a moment when communities rally, when strangers become family, and when the Church rises not in word alone, but in action. May love flow more powerfully than floodwaters. May compassion rise faster than rivers. And may the cries of the suffering awaken generosity, justice, and hope in us all. And may Your banner of victory rally us all together!

You, O God, are our refuge. You are the shelter we seek when all else is lost. Let Your presence be known to the people of Texas, and let Your Spirit move through every act of love that follows. In the name of the One who calms storms and walks on troubled waters—Jesus Christ—we pray, receive, believe, and praise. Amen!
