“Every storm has a set number of raindrops before God turns the water off.” That’s what my beloved embryonic twin brother once said. He believed with all his heart that God wasn’t just present in the storm—He was in control of it. My Twin would often remind me, “God is the true Master Plumber in the storm.” And though my twin is no longer here with me physically, his wisdom, his faith, and his voice still echo in my spirit, especially during life’s floods.
Storms often come suddenly and stay longer than we expect—grief, illness, fear, disappointment, uncertainty. It can feel like we’re drowning in waves we never saw coming. But Noel’s words remind me that even storms have boundaries. God counts every drop. He knows the exact moment to turn the valve off and shut it down. Nothing about our suffering is random or overlooked. There is divine regulation at work.
As Scripture affirms in Isaiah 43:2: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you.” That verse doesn’t promise we won’t face storms—it promises that God is in them with us, and that they will not overtake us. We will pass through. He will bring us through.
I think about how often Noel would encourage others, even when he was navigating storms of his own. He trusted that God, like a master plumber, knew when to release pressure and when to restore peace. His faith never ignored pain, but it always anchored in promise.
So beloved, if you’re feeling like the rain just won’t stop—like you’re stuck in a flood of questions, emotions, or trials—remember: it won’t last forever. The Master Plumber is still in control. He knows when to shut it off. And when He does, you’ll see that not one drop was wasted. He’s been working behind the scenes, protecting your heart, sustaining your strength, and preparing your peace.
Pray with me:
Father God,
Thank You for the storm wisdom You gave Noel—and for the legacy of truth and faith he left behind. Even now, his words lead us back to You. Thank You for being the Master Plumber in our lives—the One who not only walks with us through the waters but who regulates every drop.
We hold to Your promise in Isaiah 43:2, that the waters will not overwhelm us and the rivers will not sweep us away. When the storms of life feel too strong, remind us that You are stronger still. Teach us to trust Your timing, Your hand, and Your heart. And when the rain finally stops, let us testify that You brought us through—on time, in grace, and with peace. In Jesus’ name we pray, believe, receive, and praise.
Amen.
