You can’t be great without the greatness of others. No one ascends into purpose alone. Even the strongest leaders, the boldest dreamers, and the most skilled builders stand on the shoulders of others—mentors, teammates, encouragers, and quiet heroes behind the scenes. God wired greatness for community, not competition.
We weren’t created to operate in silos. Pride isolates, but humility connects. When we recognize the value in others—when we honor their gifts and welcome their voices—we expand our own capacity to grow. Real greatness isn’t about outshining others—it’s about bringing others into the light with you.
King Solomon affirms this spiritual truth in Proverbs 27:17: “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” We’re not meant to be solo stars. We’re called to be sharpeners—challenging, encouraging, and stretching one another into who God designed us to be. That kind of greatness is contagious, and it’s eternal.
So Beloved, remember those who’ve sharpened you. Celebrate the greatness you see in others. Invest in those who are coming up after you. Because the greatest among us are never standing alone—they’re standing together.
Pray With Me:
Father God, thank You for the people You’ve placed in my life to challenge, strengthen, and refine me. Help me never to walk in pride, but to walk with people who sharpen me and whom I can sharpen in return. Teach me to see greatness in others and to honor those You’ve used to help me grow. Make me a person who multiplies greatness—not just for myself, but for Your glory.
In Jesus’ name I pray, believe, receive, and praise. Amen.
