Where Is Your Focus?

Temptation doesn’t come out of nowhere—it grows in the soil of your attention. Where your focus goes, your desires will follow. That’s why the enemy doesn’t always attack you with force—he distracts you with subtlety. He doesn’t need you to fall all at once. He just needs you to start looking in the wrong direction.

If you feed it with thought, it will grow. If you entertain it with imagination, it will gain strength. But if you starve it by turning your eyes back to Jesus, it loses its grip. The fight against temptation isn’t just about willpower—it’s about redirected focus. Paul affirms this truth in Colossians 3:2, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

Here’s the deal, God isn’t calling you to perfection, but He is calling you to focus—to fix your eyes on what builds your spirit, not what satisfies your flesh.

So Beloved ask yourself: What has your attention right now? Because whatever has your eyes will eventually steer your life. Guard your gaze. Direct your thoughts. And when temptation tries to whisper, shut it down by lifting your eyes to the hills from which come to your help (Psalm 121:1) and back to the One who’s already made a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Pray With Me:
Father God, I confess that too often my focus drifts. Help me to guard my mind and redirect my thoughts to You. When temptation tries to grow in my life, let it wither in the light of Your truth. Teach me to fix my eyes on things that are pure, holy, and life-giving. Let Your Word be the filter for my attention and the anchor for my heart. In Jesus’ name I pray, believe, receive, and praise. Amen.
