Seasoned With Salt đź§‚

“Be sure to taste your words before you spit them out.”

Over 3,000 years ago, King Solomon admonished us with timeless wisdom in Proverbs 18:21: “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Even after millennia, the truth still stands—our words carry weight, shaping destinies, healing wounds, or breaking hearts.

Think of it this way: once words leave your lips, you can’t reel them back in. You may apologize, but you cannot erase the echo. A careless outburst may leave scars, but a thoughtful word can plant seeds of hope.

That’s why the Apostle Paul reminded us nearly 2,000 years ago in Colossians 4:6: “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” His words echo Solomon’s wisdom, teaching us to make sure what flows from our mouths preserves, heals, and strengthens—not tears down or corrupts.

So Beloved, pause before you speak. Taste your words first. Ask—are they seasoned with grace, kindness, and truth? Are they nourishing or toxic? The wisdom of Solomon and Paul still rings true: speak life, not death.

Pray with me:
Father God, help me to speak with wisdom and love. Guard my tongue from harm and fill my heart with words that bring healing and hope. May my speech reflect Your grace, seasoned with salt, so that my words uplift and not tear down. In Jesus’ name we pray, believe, receive, and praise. Amen and Amen and Amen!
