“Hate Has Never Solved a Problem.”
Beloved, Maya Angelou once said, “Hate, it has caused a lot of problems in the world, but has not solved one yet.” How true those words remain. Hate only multiplies division, fuels bitterness, and blinds hearts to God’s purpose. It can break communities, destroy families, and even harden nations. But hate has never healed one wound or solved one problem. Only love can do that.
In the Old Testament, Proverbs 10:12 reminds us: “Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.” Hate multiplies the fire, but love extinguishes it. And in the New Testament, 1 John 4:20 confronts us with truth: “Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.” At the end of the day, love is the true evidence of God at work in us.
So, Beloved, choose love in the very places where hate wants to dwell. Love is not weakness—it is the most powerful force in the universe. As Scripture reminds us in 1 John 4:8: “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. put it plainly: “I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”
Pray with me:
Father God, remove any root of hate from my heart and replace it with Your love. Teach me to see others as You see them and to respond with grace even when I am wronged. Help me be a peacemaker, not a divider, and let my life be a witness of Your love in a world that desperately needs it. In Jesus’ name, we pray, believe, receive, and praise.
Amen.
