God’s Way Is Better!

“Good Intentions, Wrong Methods”

Beloved, sometimes good intentions with the wrong method are still wrong. Doing the right thing the wrong way can cause more harm than help. God doesn’t just care about what we do—He cares about how we do it. A pure heart must be matched with obedience to His ways.

In the Old Testament, 2 Samuel 6:6-7, King David learned this lesson the hard way. When he tried to bring the Ark of the Covenant back to Jerusalem, he did it his way instead of God’s. “When they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark of God, because the oxen stumbled. The Lord’s anger burned against Uzzah… and he died there beside the ark of God.” Here’s the TikTok version of what happened: The Ark was never meant to be placed on a cart or carried by animals; God commanded it be carried on poles by the Levites (see Exodus 25:14–15; Numbers 4:15). David followed convenience instead of obedience, copying the Philistine method instead of God’s. Though David’s intention was good—he wanted God’s presence near—but his method was reckless and careless and as a result a person lost his life. Undoubtedly, faithful obedience matters more than raging enthusiasm.

The New Testament echoes this in Colossians 3:17, where the apostle Paul writes: “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” It’s not enough to do what seems right—we must do what honors Christ. Good motives cannot excuse disobedience.

So Beloved, before you act, pause and pray. Ask not just “Is this right?” but “Am I doing it God’s way?” Because the method matters just as much as the mission.

Pray with me:

Father God, thank You for reminding me that obedience is greater than intention. Help me to seek Your guidance before I act and to follow Your ways, not my own. Purify my motives, correct my methods, and let everything I do bring honor to You. In Jesus’ name, we pray, believe, receive, and praise.

Amen.
