“Stop Chasing Ministry and Neglecting Your First Ministry”
Beloved, one of the greatest deceptions in the Kingdom is believing that ministry starts outside the home. Many chase platforms, pulpits, and positions, while the ministry God first entrusted to them—spouse, children, family, home—sits unattended. The truth is, some will clean an entire church building with excellence… yet won’t bring that same care, honor, and order into their own home.
God is not impressed by public performance when private stewardship is ignored. The Old Testament reminds us in Joshua 24:15 (Joshua), “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Notice—my house came before any other assignment. And in the New Testament, Paul tells us in 1 Timothy 3:5 (Paul), “For if a man cannot manage his own household, how can he take care of God’s church?” God makes it clear: your home is your first pulpit.
Beloved, your children need your presence more than a congregation needs your preaching. Your spouse needs your love more than a ministry needs your labor. Your home needs your attention more than a church needs your applause. God never called us to build His house while abandoning our own. Ministry that does not begin at home is ministry out of order.
Pray with me:
Father God, reorder my priorities and bring my heart back to what matters most. Help me steward my home with the same passion I give to outward ministry. Teach me to love, serve, and lead well behind closed doors so that my public life reflects genuine integrity. Strengthen my family, restore anything broken, and let my first ministry honor You. In Jesus’ name, we pray, believe, receive, and praise. Amen.
