Defined By God!

Hey you…yeah you! I have good news for you! Failure doesn’t define you; God does! 1 Peter 2:9 confirms this truth, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.”

My brothers and sisters, in our journey through life, we often encounter moments of failure that can leave us feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, and unworthy. We might begin to believe that our mistakes define who we are. However, as believers, our true identity is found only in God and His unchanging love for us.

1 Peter 2:9 reminds us that we are chosen by God, set apart as His special possession. This scripture affirms that our identity is rooted in being part of God’s family, a royal priesthood, and a holy nation. No failure (s) and no wrong(s) can change this truth. Our worth is not based on our achievements or shortcomings but on the fact that God has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Though we absolutely do not deserve it, God sees us through the lens of His infallible grace and love. He has chosen us for a purpose: to declare His praises and live in the light of His truth. When we embrace this identity, we can rise above our failures and mistakes, knowing that they do not define us. Instead, we are defined by God’s love, His calling, His purpose, and the light He has placed within us.

I invite each of you to reflect on areas where you may be allowing past failures or mistakes to define you. Write down these areas and bring them before God in prayer. Meditate on 1 Peter 2:9 and remind yourself daily of your true identity in Christ and because iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17); please feel free share this truth with someone who might need encouragement, affirming their worth and identity in God’s eyes.

Prayer with me:
Father God, thank You for choosing us and calling us Your special possession. Help us to see ourselves through Your eyes and to embrace the identity You have given us. Strengthen us to rise above our failures, mistakes, and to live out the purpose You promised, predisposed, and prepared for us even before the beginning of time. May we declare Your praises, glory, and walk in the light of Your love each day. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen and Amen and Amen.

Seen.Known.Loved

I know for many of us we are dealing with the aftermath clean-up from Hurricane/Tropical Storm Beryl. Lights out, fences down, and trees may have fallen on humble abodes across our region. I get it, great or small we all have been adversely impacted and when disaster hit like this we may have the tendency to feel unseen, misunderstood, or unloved. The pressures of getting life back to normal have a way of leaving us feeling isolated and alone. However, Psalm 139:1-3 reminds us of a profound truth: we are deeply known and loved by God. This Psalm is a part of the final Davidic Psalms collection and it says, “O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.”

Undoubtedly, God’s knowledge of us and our current situation is intimate and complete. He sees and knows every aspect of our lives, from our mundane routines to our deepest thoughts and emotions. He understands us in ways that no one else can. This knowledge is not distant or indifferent; it is a loving and caring understanding that encompasses every part of who we are.

Matchlessly, God’s love for us is personal and unconditional. He knows our strengths and weaknesses, our joys and sorrows, and yet, He loves us without reservation. This love is not based on our performance or worthiness but on His nature and grace. When we grasp this truth, it transforms our sense of identity and worth.

My brothers and sisters, as you continue to put the pieces back to normality, I personally invite you to take a few moments each day to reflect on God’s knowledge and love for you. Meditate on Psalm 139 and let its truths sink deep into your heart. As you go about your day, remind yourself that God cares for you and He is a very present help in your time of need. Furthermore, you are seen, known, and loved by the Creator of the universe. This assurance will bring peace and confidence in every circumstance. You see, knowing and reminding ourselves we are fully seen, deeply known, and unconditionally loved by God gives us the strength to face life’s challenges with tenacious hope, courage, confidence, and resilience. Therefore, embrace this truth and let it transform the way you see, know, and love God.

Pray with me:
Abba Father, Thank You for Your unfailing love and intimate knowledge of us. In moments when we feel unseen or unloved, remind us of Your constant presence and care. Help us to rest in the assurance that You know us completely and love us unconditionally. May Your love fill our hearts and overflow into our relationships with others. In Jesus’ never changing name, Amen, Amen, and Amen!

We Can Nothing Apart From God

Today, I want to highlight a fundamental truth that underpins our faith and our lives: without God, we are nothing. For some of you reading this message this may sound harsh or daunting, but it’s a profound reality that brings us closer to understanding our true purpose and the boundless grace of Almighty God.

Jesus tells us in John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” Here, Jesus uses the metaphor of the vine and branches to illustrate our complete dependence on Him. Just as branches cannot survive or bear fruit without being connected to the vine, we cannot fully thrive or fulfill our purpose without being connected to Jesus.

Let’s think about our daily lives. How often do we rely on our own strength, wisdom, and understanding? The world encourages self-sufficiency, telling us that we can achieve anything if we just try hard enough. But the Bible teaches us a different lesson.Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Our achievements, our successes, and our victories are not by our might but through the strength that Christ provides.

Consider the story of David and Goliath. Young David did not defeat the giant because he was stronger or more skilled than Goliath. He triumphed because he trusted in the Lord’s power rather than his own. 1 Samuel 17:47 says, “It is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s.”

My brothers and sisters, in our individual journeys, it’s critically important to acknowledge our limitations and embrace God’s omnipotence. Proverbs 3:5-6 urges us to, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Trusting in God means surrendering our plans and our will to Him, believing that He knows what is best for us.

At the end of the day and before the beginning of time, God authored a unique plan for each one of us. Jeremiah 29:11 reassures us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” When we align our lives with His will, we find true fulfillment and peace.

So, how do we live out this truth daily? James 1:22 says and I will paraphrase it, “Don’t just sit and listen to the word of God, apply it.” You see, applying God’s word into our everyday lives begins with prayer, seeking God’s guidance in every decision, big or small. It involves immersing ourselves in His Word, allowing His teachings to shape our actions and thoughts. And it requires us to lean on our community of faith (church), encouraging and supporting one another in our walk with God.

I openly invite you to reflect on the areas of your life where you may be relying on your own strength and then commit to surrendering those areas to God, trusting that He will provide what you need. Remember, without God, we are nothing—but with Him, we can do all things.

Hope Has A Name!

In times of distress, uncertainty, and trouble, we can draw immense peace, strength, and comfort from the scriptures, which remind us of God’s relentless, indefatigable, unwavering presence, providence, protection, and promises . Psalm 46:1 reminds us that, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” This verse assures us that no matter what we face, God is there, ready to offer refuge and strength.

Isaiah 41:10 also offers encouragement: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” This powerful promise from God reassures us that we need not fear, for He is with us, ready to uphold and support us with His righteous hand.

Let’s keep it 💯, Peter was the first and only human being to walk on water, but he was not the only one to sink/ fall in the presence of God. In the 14th chapter of the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus said, “Come.” And Peter left the boat and walked on the water to Jesus. But when Peter saw the wind and the waves, he became afraid and began to sink. He shouted, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught Peter.

My brothers and sisters, when we face challenges, bottlenecks, and obstacles remember that God’s hand is always extended low enough to pull us out of the depth of the seas of our sorrow and pain to save us!! Proverbs 18:10: “The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” This scripture highlights the safety and security found in God’s presence.

I ask that you allow this intentional word of encouragement to permeate your entire being and let these scriptures be a reminder that God’s hand is always there to save us. He is our help, refuge, our strength, and our ever-present help in times of trouble. Trust in His presence, promises, providence, protection, and find peace in His everlasting love, comfort, and strength!

We have hope and hope has a Name and His Name is Jesus!

Real Peace Comes From God!

God’s perfect peace, often referred to as “shalom” in Hebrew, encompasses wholeness, completeness, and well-being. This peace is not dependent on external circumstances but is a gift from God that resides within the believer.

Additionally, God’s perfect peace is undeniably a profound and transcendent calm that surpasses human understanding. This supremely and supernaturally state of spirit is described in the Bible, particularly in Philippians 4:7, which says, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Let’s be clear, this peace is not merely the absence of conflict or stress, but a deep sense of tranquility and assurance that comes from a relationship with God. It is rooted in trust and faith, knowing that God is sovereign, loving, and in control of all circumstances. Isaiah 26:3 confirms, “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”

Undoubtedly, this divine peace is a cornerstone of the Christian faith, offering solace and stability even in the most turbulent times. It is cultivated through prayer, meditation on Scripture, and a deep, abiding trust in God’s promises. As we draw closer to God and align our lives with His will, His peace begins to rule in our hearts, providing a steadfast anchor amidst the storms of life. However, when we surrender our anxieties and fears to Him, He fills our hearts with His peace, providing comfort and strength amidst life’s challenges.

At the end of the day my brothers and sisters, experiencing God’s perfect peace means living in the assurance that He is always with us, guiding and protecting us. It involves letting go of our worries and embracing His promises, allowing His presence to transform our fears into confidence and our chaos into serenity.

God Works

Believing in God’s ability to work ‘things’ out often involves faith and trust in His wisdom and power. It means surrendering control and believing that, despite challenges or uncertainties, God has a plan and is actively working for your good. This belief can bring peace, reduce anxiety, and foster resilience during difficult times. It also encourages a sense of hope and assurance that there is a greater purpose behind life’s events, even when they are not immediately understandable.

Here are five well known scriptures that reflect this belief:

  1. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV):
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
  2. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV):
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
  3. Romans 8:28 (NIV):
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
  4. Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV):
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
  5. Isaiah 41:10 (NIV):
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

These verses encourage trust, assurance, and reliance on God’s ability to guide and support us through ‘all’ circumstances.

My brothers and sister, although your life may look loomy, doomy, and gloomy, I pray this brief word of encouragement serves a powerful reminder that in everything—whether it be joy or suffering—God is at ‘work’ for our good. It doesn’t mean that everything that happens to us is good, but God uses every circumstance to bring about His purpose in our lives. Our role is to love Him and trust that He is orchestrating everything according to His perfect will.

So today, be mindful that when you pray God listens, when you listen God talks, and when you believe God works all things for His glory and our good!

God In Me Is Everything!

Repeat after me, “God in me is my everything. Therefore, I don’t have to worry about anything!”

This profound truth has the power to transform our lives. When we truly believe that God is within us, guiding us, and sustaining us, we find a deep sense of peace and security. This belief anchors us in the midst of life’s storms, knowing that we are never alone and that a higher power is always at work in our lives.

In Philippians 4:6-7 Paul said, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”

The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Philippians, encourages us not to be anxious about anything. Instead, we are to bring our concerns to God through prayer and thanksgiving. This act of surrendering our worries to God invites His peace to dwell within us—a peace that goes beyond our understanding.

You are cordially invited to take a moment to quiet your mind and heart. Breathe deeply and focus on the presence of God within you. Reflect on the affirmation, “God in me is my everything. Therefore, I do not have to worry about anything.” Allow this truth to sink deep into your soul.

Now then, consider the areas of your life where you are experiencing worry or anxiety. Imagine placing each concern into God’s hands, trusting Him to take care of them. As you do this, feel the peace of God filling your heart and mind.

My brothers and sisters, living with the assurance that God is your everything will encourage, empower and inspire you to face each day with confidence, assurance, and resilience. Embrace this empirical truth, let it guide your actions and thoughts, and share this source of strength with others who may need encouragement.

I pray that you walk in the peace and joy that comes from knowing God is within you, now and always.

Pray with me:

Father God, thank You for being my everything. When life feels overwhelming, help me to remember that You are with me, guiding and sustaining me. I surrender my worries, fears, doubts, concerns, and anxieties to You, trusting in Your perfect love and wisdom. Fill me with Your peace that transcends all understanding, and help me to rest in the assurance that I am never alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen and Amen!

Trials Turned Into Triumph

In the story of Joseph, we see a powerful example of how God can transform the darkest and unnerving situations into opportunities for restoration and growth. Sold into slavery by his own brothers and wrongfully imprisoned, Joseph’s life was marked by betrayal and hardship. Yet, through it all, God was at work, using each trial to prepare him for a greater purpose.

Genesis 50:20 confirms, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”

You see, Joseph’s journey teaches us that what the enemy uses to harm us, God can use to heal and restore us. When Joseph finally stood before his brothers as a powerful leader in Egypt, he recognized God’s hand in his journey. The very acts that were meant to destroy him became the means through which God saved many lives, including those of his own family.

In short, here are 3 powerful application points to chew on and then apply into your daily lives:

  1. Trust in God’s Sovereignty: When we face trials, it can be hard to see beyond the pain and confusion. Yet, Joseph’s story encourages us to trust that God is sovereign and that He can bring good out of even the most difficult circumstances.
  2. Look for God’s Hand in Adversity: In moments of hardship, take a step back and seek to understand how God might be using your situation to shape you, teach you, or prepare you for a future purpose. Remember, God does not waste any experience.
  3. Forgive and Move Forward: Joseph forgave his brothers, which not only set him free from bitterness but also allowed God’s plan to unfold. Holding onto past hurts can keep us from seeing the good God is working out. Forgiveness can be a powerful step towards your own restoration.

My brothers and sisters at the end of the day, no matter what you are facing today, remember that God can turn any situation around for His glory and your good. What the enemy intended for harm, God can use to restore, uplift, and save. Keep trusting in His plan and let Him transform your trials into triumphs.

Pray we me:
Father God, thank You for Your faithfulness and sovereignty in our lives. Help us to trust in Your good plans, even when we face trials and adversities. Open our eyes to see Your hand at work and give us the strength to forgive and move forward. Use our stories of restoration to bring hope and encouragement to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
