How many times have you heard this declaration whether it be vocational related, athletic, scholastic, or in general competitions, “Give it 100%” or the even mathematical impossible give it 110%? I have learned that most people truly believe they give 100% however, the reality is their 100% is not quite 100%. Watch this, one person’s 100% might be 20% and another person’s 100% might be 80% and so forth. John Maxwell said, “Don’t send your ducks to eagle school and don’t send your eagles to duck school.” Maxwell continues this analogy by saying, ” Eagles are designed and created to soar whereas ducks were designed and created to swim.” IOW, if the duck exerted 100% effort in an attempt to soar like an eagle, it would only accomplish 50% of it’s goal. You see when the duck is placed in the the right element it will thrive and when it is taking out of it’s element, it will most likely fail. Make note, I am in no way advocating mediocrity more so than dispelling the illusion of excellence in exerted effort. Check this out, the ‘Pareto Principle’ (or the 80-20 rule), states that 80 per cent of consequences stem from 20 per cent of causes and the ‘Law of Diminishing Returns’, suggests that, as we near 100% we expend proportionally more effort on the remaining work. Here’s the twist, all of this only applies to the natural. When we factor adding God to the equation; what was mathematically impossible is now supernaturally attainable! Do we really think that David killed Goliath in his own strength? He was a master of the ‘sling shot ‘ however, David didn’t posses the supernatural strength to accomplish defeating Goliath without God’s participation. 1 Samuel 17:45, “…..but I come against you in the name of The Lord Almighty.” So today know that with God all things are possible and well apart from Him we can do nothing. John 15:5, ” I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” At the end of the day, no one really exerts 100% however, when we give God full custody of our lives and not mere weekend visits we will supernaturally change the course of history, positively increase the throughput yield of our actions, and we will experience an abundant life in Him!
