Dr. Goodsoil taught his son Wayside not to boast or brag and to always be aware of his surrounding. One day Wayside was at the mall on a shopping spree and as he pulled out his wallet to pay the clerk, a man who was plotting to rob Wayside snatched his wallet and ran off. Then there’s Wayside’s cousin Stoney. Cousin Stoney is a great young, up and coming football player. Cousin Stoney is know for his exciting and exhilarating performances during practices however; the coach doesn’t put him in on game day because he folds too quickly under pressure. Big Thorn is Wayside’s big brother. Big Thorn, sells false hope. He is a televangelist. His only goal in life is to make enough money to buy a mansion and to become a cast member on the reality TV show, ‘Preachers of LA’. Which leaves Wayside’s father Dr. Goodsoil. Dr. Goodsoil is a very successful Doctor and he relentlessly speaks truth to his sons and nephew however; they refuse to listen. In Mathew 13:18-23 Jesus explains the parable of the sower. He says this, “Therefore hear the parable of the sower: When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” It’s not the person rather the condition of the person’s heart that hinders them from living an abundant life in Christ. Join me in asking God to ready the richest soils of our hearts so that we may received a life convicting and life changing word from Him today. We all enjoy watch and enjoy various sports competitions and in most cases, especially when the team trails or drags there is that highlighted moment when one or more players performs a game changing action that turn the tables in their favor. It’s only when we rightly receive the word of God that His word becomes the game changer in our life!
