How do we engage an unseen enemy? There is a multifaceted battle being waged in the unseen spiritual realm that permeates our physical senses and our everyday lives and the adversary leading the charge is vicious, manipulative, and destructive; desiring nothing more than to kill, steal, and destroy. The Bible outlines this battle for us and explains what our mindset should be, when it states in Ephesians 6:11-12: “Put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Christians are engaged in spiritual warfare everyday. James 4:7 says, “If we resist, the enemy will flee.” We resist by knowing our areas of vulnerability, knowing the truth good enough to discern error, being alert, praying, worshiping, standing firm in Christ, and counting on God promises. “All of our warfare and all of our activity must take place in the context of constant, unceasing prayer. Just as a soldier on the battle line has to keep in constant communication with his general headquarters and his commanding officer, so the Christian who is on the battle line must be in constant communication with his Lord. He might be fully equipped with all the armor, but if he is cut off from personal communication with his own commander, then he will be isolated and vulnerable.” R.C. Sproul
