GRUDGE

Grudge is defined as having a persistent feeling of ill will resulting from a past insult or injury. Pinned up resentment, bitterness, enmity, and animosity damages relationships however, it’s even more fatal for the person that harbors it. I’ve heard it said that holding on to a grudge is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. We’re taught in Ephesians 4:31-32, to let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from us, along with all malice. We are instructed to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave us. There are numerous scriptures that points both to the consequence and freedom of holding/releasing grudges. Bestselling Author and Behavioral Science Academic Dr. Steve Maraboli said, “When you hold a grudge, you want someone else’s sorrow to reflect your level of hurt but the two rarely meet.”
