I recently watched a video about a Christian comedian who spends about 30 minutes out of each of his shows to interact with his audience. During one of his shows he randomly asked a man who was a choir director to sing Amazing Grace. The gentleman really did a good job. But the comedian asked him to sing it like he lost someone that was special to him. (Something like that) This dude sang with passion, vigor, and conviction. He literally ripped the song to pieces. The comedian was illustrating the difference between understanding the ‘why’ from the ‘what’. When the gentlemen sang Amazing Grace the first time, he really didn’t know why he was picked to sing. But, the second go round he understood the why and boy did he bring it home. If you are doing what you’re doing without understanding the why you are doing it, you’re probably not doing it to the best of your capacity. Understand your why and the what, when, how, who, and where will take care of itself!
