Martin Luther once said that a ship belongs in the sea, but when the sea gets inside the ship it’s doomed to sink. As we journey through our our lower story, it’s easy to lose sight of our purpose. The world is much like the Luther’s ship analogy; it desires only to infiltrate our minds, hearts, and spirits with it’s junk (aka) worldly treasures! If we don’t rid and then guard ourselves from worldly junk we too like the ship are doomed to sink into complacency, discouragement, and depression. The enemy of this world objective is to render us weak and powerless. However, we must stand by faith like Paul instructed Jude to “earnestly contend for the faith that was once delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). The word he used is a strong word that denotes wrestling for the faith. Have you ever had to wrestle with getting out of bed, forgiving and/or extending grace to others that deserves condemning? So today, let’s not get tired of doing what is good because at just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. (Galatians 6:9)
