Ok, it’s already getting old! The barrage of satirical posts regarding the gorilla incident has become a tad bit redundant. Some people have way too much time on their hands. It’s unfortunate the gorilla died however, a little boy’s life was saved. Yes, the parents could have done a better job in supervising their child but how many times have you turned your watchful eye on a child and that child does something he/she wasn’t supposed to do?? Lastly, it’s not a ‘race’ issue!! Gorillas’ appearances can vary based on sub-species, but for the most part, the western subspecies tend to be brownish gray in color, while the eastern and mountain gorillas tend to have a more blackish coat. Albinism comes from the Latin word albus which means ‘white’ however, there are no sub-species of ‘white’ silverbacks. So, even if the gorilla was albino he/she would have most likely died given the circumstances and not just from a gun shot wound. Reports show that albinism in this sub-species is a direct result of incest and in most cases, this condition leads to death by way of skin cancer. The real question is what if your child accidentally fell into that moat….what would you have done??
