Your NAME Has Significance!

Would you agree that names are important? Imagine a world where people didn’t have names? Your name is the main thing people ask for when they meet. It is the most important means by which someone can identify and refer to you. Our Heavenly Father understood the importance of names, that’s why He created them. He said in Isaiah 42:8, “I am the Lord; that is my name!……). There are over 16 names that describes God in the Old Testament times and of course each name was not only used for identification, but an His identity as well. The meanings behind God’s names reveal His central personality and nature. If God wants us to understand the importance of His name than it would behoove us to understand the value of our name. I can confidently say that most, if not all, names have significance. Lowell, derived from an English surname which was derived from a Norman French nickname, from lou “wolf” and “beloved”. Many people love their name and get angry when someone mispronounces and misspells it, but how can you feel that way without even knowing what your name means? It is important that you understand that meaning is the definition of initially obsolete words. By comprehending it, you can start to better understand your name; maybe you will soon start to notice some similarities between it and your characteristics.
