Hallelujah, God is doing a new thing!!! Isaiah 43:18-19 tells us that, “God says: Forget the former things, nor dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”
This statement or declaration never gets old! It’s simply amazing when God takes a dried up useless life and transforms it into a life of purpose, power, promise, and praise!
When God says to His Children, He will do a new thing it means we will move to a higher level of freedom, refreshment, and spiritual awareness.
God never starts a new chapter until the last chapter finishes. As Jesus put it, he won’t put new wine into old wineskins.
With that being said, we have to let go of the old in order to embrace the new! We must also forget the former things and not dwell in the past. If we as the church without walls (literally) choose to continually look behind our shoulders we will not be able to see what’s in front of us, where God is calling us to go, and what He is desiring for us to do!
Additionally, in order to embrace the new we must not depend on past victories, we can’t allow past failures to blur our vision, and we can not live on yesterday’s faith!! God said in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” If we wan to experience this new thing, we best make sure that we make things right with God on the front-end!
Let’s be clear, a new thing can mean different things to different people. Henceforth, we need to steadfastly hold unto God’s word and His irrevocable promises! As it stands, God has already set into motion a new direction and a new purpose for our lives. Psalms 95:6-7 reminds us to, “Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the LORD our maker, for He is our God. We are the people He watches over, the flock under His care. If only you would listen to his voice today!”
I’m going to close this message the same way I started it: Hallejuah, God is doing a new thing!!! And this new thing will be so glorious, it’s going to cause His people to praise Him like never before: “Sing unto the Lord a new song, and His praise from the end of the earth…..(Isaiah 42:10).
