God’s Promises Are Real!

Paul reminds us in 2 Timothy 1:20, “For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.”

In the attached meme, I’ve listed only 7 promises that God keeps 24/7! Some say there are 30,000 promises written in scripture, but Everett R. Storms, a school- teacher in Canada, who made a detailed study of God’s promises came up with a different number. According Storms, he reckoned the figure of 30,000 to be too high (since it is roughly the number of verses making up the Bible-31,173). Well, during his twenty-seventh reading of the Bible, a task which took him a year and a half, Storms came up with a grand total of 8,810 promises (7,487 of them being promises made by God to humankind). That’s still a generous amount of promises!

Here’s the deal, we may never know the exact number, but what we do know is that God will never break a promise! American Evangelist D.L. Moody once said, “God never made a promise that was too good to be true.”

Beloved, never forget that God is always faithful to His word (2 Tim 2:13), He will never lie about His word (Num 23:19, and God’s word is settled in eternity (Eph 1:5).

Simply put, God never made a promise that was ever too good to be true, and He never made a promise that He did not keep, because He is faithful to His own word; He cannot lie, so whatever He says is always true; and these things were determined before we even existed. This in it of itself should give you great confidence in our great God.

“Praise be to the Lord …. Not one word has failed of all the good promises He gave through his servant Moses” (1 Kgs 8:56 NIV).
