As Children of God, our tongues have a lot of power.
Proverbs 18:21 confirms this by saying, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.”
This is further seen in Matthew 18:18, which proclaims, “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
You and I both know it’s easy to lash out when someone injuries us physically, emotionally, spiritual, and mentally! However, we should never trust our tongue when our heart is bitter! Somebody say, ‘Guard your tongue’. Proverbs 13:3 said it this way, “Proverbs 13:3; “Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.”
I get it; it’s easier said than done, but in Christ we can overcome unleashing the wrath! Paul said this in Ephesians 4:29, “Ephesians 4:29; “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.”
I submit to you that I am a continued work in progress and I am getting better everyday. If this message reached you at the point of your bitterness sow this word in your heart out of James 3:9-12, “James 3: 9-12; “With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.”
