In a world filled with distractions and demands, it’s easy to place our priorities on careers, relationships, and personal goals. While these things have their place, Jesus reminds us that our first and greatest pursuit should always be God’s kingdom. When we align our hearts with Him, everything else falls into place according to His will.
Jesus said this in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Seeking God first doesn’t mean neglecting responsibilities, but rather inviting Him into every area of our lives—our decisions, ambitions, and even our struggles. It means trusting that He knows what’s best for us and will provide what we truly need.
One of the greatest examples of putting God first is seen in Jesus Himself. In the midst of His busy ministry, He constantly sought time with the Father in prayer (Luke 5:16). If Jesus, the Son of God, made spending time with the Father His priority, how much more should we?
When we seek God first, He changes our perspective. Worry is replaced with peace, confusion with clarity, and striving with trust. We begin to see that true fulfillment is not in what we achieve but in whom we follow.
My brothers and sisters, are there areas in your life where God is not in first place? Today, take a moment to surrender them to Him. When you put God at the center, He brings peace, direction, and purpose beyond what we could ever achieve on our own.
Pray with me:
Father God, I surrender my heart and my priorities to You. Help me to seek You first in all things and to trust that You will provide for me. When challenges arises, strengthen me to trust and lean on You! Align my desires with Your will and lead me in Your perfect path. At the end of the day O’God, no matter what I face—joy or hardship—I choose to put your first because I whole heartedly believe that You are working all things for Your glory and my good. In Jesus’ name I pray, believe, receive, and praise. Amen and Amen and Amen!
