God, I am Still Counting My Blessings

“God, I’m Still Counting My Blessings”

Beloved, life has not been perfect. There have been prayers you are still waiting on, battles you never asked for, and seasons that tested your faith in ways you never imagined. There have been tears shed in private, disappointments that left you searching for answers, and days when simply getting out of bed felt like a victory. Yet through it all, God has remained faithful.

Today, before focusing on what is missing, let us pause and thank God for what remains. Sometimes we become so consumed with what we are hoping for that we overlook what God has already done. The roof over your head, the breath in your lungs, the family and friends who care for you, the strength to keep moving forward, and the grace that carried you through yesterday are all reminders of His goodness.

The psalmist wrote in Psalm 103:2, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” Those words remind us that gratitude is not simply an emotion—it is a choice. It is the decision to remember God’s faithfulness even when circumstances are difficult. When we intentionally count our blessings, we begin to see His hand at work in places we may have overlooked.

Likewise, the New Testament Paul encourages us in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, which says, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Notice it does not say to give thanks for all circumstances, but in all circumstances. Even in challenging seasons, there are reasons to praise God. His presence remains. His promises remain. His love remains.

Gratitude changes perspective. It reminds us that God has been faithful before, that He is faithful today, and that He will be faithful tomorrow. It shifts our focus from what we have lost to what God has preserved. It helps us recognize that every day we wake up is another opportunity to experience His mercy, which is new every morning.

So today beloved, if life is not exactly how you hoped it would be, take a moment and simply say, “God, I’m still counting my blessings.” Not because every problem has disappeared. Not because every prayer has been answered. But because God is still worthy of praise, and His goodness continues to surround you.

Pray with me: Father God, thank You for every blessing, both seen and unseen. Thank You for Your mercy, Your provision, Your protection, and Your presence. Forgive me for the times I focus more on what I lack than on all You have already provided. Open my eyes to see Your goodness in every season and teach my heart to remain grateful regardless of my circumstances. Help me trust Your timing, rest in Your promises, and walk daily in the joy that comes from knowing You are faithful. In Jesus name, I pray, believe, receive, and praise in advance, Amen.
