God’s grace is immeasurable, incomprehensible, and infallible. There is nothing good nor bad we could ever do to earn it or lose it. As a repeat offender, I know that I am not a worthy recipient of the grace God extends to me everyday! I have raised one adult child and my wife and I are in the process of raising 2 more. I have never lost patience with either of them…..yeah right!! My wife would be the first to testify that I am truly a work in progress! Grace is easy to receive but at times difficult to extend, but not for God! So why is it so difficult for us? There are a barrage of many different reasons however; in his book Putting a Face on Grace, Richard Blackaby suggests that we do the following:
•Speak words intended to build up, not to bring down.
• Focus on the needs of others, rather than your own.
•Freely forgive.
•Swallow your pride and say, “I’m sorry,” and “I was wrong.”
•Live your life with a goal of “no regrets.”
•Don’t keep score of what is fair.
•Don’t condemn or give up on people.
•Emphasize mercy, not justice.
•Read 1 Corinthians 13 regularly.
And always keep in mind that it is God’s Spirit within us who will change us into becoming people who extend grace to others.
