How do boomerangs return to the thrower? Well, returning boomerangs have a special curved that will spin to create ‘unbalanced’ aerodynamic forces. These forces causes the boomerang’s path to curve in an elliptical shape, so that it will return to the thrower. Metaphorically look at ‘unbalanced’ or ‘uncontrolled’ anger as being a boomerang and check out how the Message Bible paraphrased Ecclesiastes 7:9, “Don’t be quick to fly off the handle. Anger boomerangs. You can spot a fool by the lumps on his head.” (LMBO)
Ok, I get it— anger is a legitimately programmed emotion. However and moreover, the Bible is intrinsically clear that we shouldn’t sin in our anger (Ephesian 4:26). Now, I don’t know what or who provokes you to throw your ‘boomarang’ but if God who is slow to anger can abound in unfailing love (Psalm 103:8), why can’t you…..? Besides, He is 100% perfect in all of His ways and yet He chooses to temper His anger towards us 100% imperfect people! When we refuse to surrender our anger we only open doors for the devil to wreak havoc in our hearts and relationships (Psalm 37:8)! You see, anger does not resolve conflict, but incites conflict— and multiplies it. James writes, “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God”(James 1:19–20) and I’ll add—but it will put lumps of your head!!
