“Death Lost Its Sting”

“Death Lost Its Sting”

Beloved, there was a time when death felt final. It carried fear, uncertainty, and an unanswerable question—what comes next? It looked like the end of the story, the closing of the book, the silence after everything stops.

But that changed.

Death lost its sting.

Today marks four years since my beloved twin transitioned. And if you’ve ever experienced grief, then you know—it doesn’t just pass. It lingers. It shows up in quiet moments, in memories, in spaces that feel different now. The love doesn’t leave… and neither does the ache.

But even in grief, there is truth we can hold onto.

In the Old Testament, Hosea 13:14 declares, “I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death. O death, where are your plagues? O grave, where is your destruction?” God was already declaring that death would not have the final word.

And in the New Testament, 1 Corinthians 15:55 proclaims, “O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory?” Because Jesus didn’t just face death—He defeated it.

So while loss is real…

death is not greater than God.

It was God who called them home.

That doesn’t remove the pain—but it reframes the reality. What we call loss, heaven calls arrival. What we experience as separation, God holds in His presence.

So to anyone carrying grief today—this is for you:

Your love still matters.

Your memories still live.

And their story is not over.

Because the grave is not a destination—

it’s a doorway.

So Beloved, let your tears fall—but don’t lose your hope. Death may have taken them from your sight, but it did not take them from God’s hands.

And one day… what was separated here will be reunited in eternity.

Because death may visit…

but it no longer wins.

Pray with me: Father God, thank You that even in grief, You are still present. Thank You that death does not have the final word and that those we love are held in Your eternal care. Comfort every heart that is hurting today. Strengthen us with the hope of Your promises and remind us that what feels like loss here is not lost in You— in Jesus name, I pray, believe, receive, and praise in advance, Amen.
