“Say It Backwards”
Beloved, every choice feeds something. The things you continually entertain either strengthen your spirit or slowly drain the life out of you. That’s why what you allow into your heart, mind, and habits matters more than you think. Because over time, what you repeatedly feed will eventually begin to shape you.
This is why scripture warns us to guard our hearts carefully. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” In other words, what lives within you eventually shows up through you.
Because—
Anger kills gratitude.
Laziness kills purpose.
Distraction kills focus.
Fear kills faith.
Lust kills love.
Sin killed Jesus.
Now let’s say it backwards.
Jesus died for sin.
Love overcomes lust.
Faith defeats fear.
Gratitude conquers anger.
Purpose overcomes laziness.
Focus kills distraction.
Beloved, the enemy always wants your attention fixed on what destroys. He wants you consumed by bitterness instead of gratitude, distraction instead of purpose, fear instead of faith. However, God continually calls you toward what restores, strengthens, and renews.
This is why Romans 12:2 reminds us, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Transformation begins when you stop feeding destructive patterns and start feeding godly ones.
Likewise, Galatians 6:7 reminds us, “A man reaps what he sows.” Whatever you consistently plant into your life—whether healthy or harmful—will eventually produce fruit.
Therefore, feed your faith instead of your fear. Protect your focus instead of entertaining distraction. Walk in purpose instead of surrendering to laziness. Choose gratitude instead of rehearsing anger.
So beloved—above all, remember this: through Christ, what once had the power to destroy you no longer has the authority to control you. Because Jesus didn’t just die for your sin—He rose so you could live differently.
Pray with me: Father God, help me recognize the things that are draining my spirit and pulling me away from You. Teach me to guard my heart, renew my mind, and feed what strengthens my faith and deepens my purpose. Let gratitude, love, discipline, and focus grow within me so my life reflects You more each day— in Jesus name, I pray, believe, receive, and praise in advance, Amen.
