When You Can Control It!

“When You Can’t Control It”

Beloved, one of life’s greatest struggles is learning to surrender what we cannot control. We naturally want answers before the questions are finished, certainty before taking the next step, and solutions before the storm has passed. We often exhaust ourselves trying to manage circumstances that were never ours to control.

The truth is, control can become a burden when it replaces trust. The more tightly we grip what is beyond our ability, the more anxious and weary we become. Yet God never asked us to carry the responsibility of being in control. He simply asks us to trust the One who is.

In the Old Testament, Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Trust begins where our understanding ends. Even when we cannot see the outcome, we can confidently rest in the character of the God who already sees the end from the beginning.

Likewise, in the New Testament, Jesus speaks these comforting words in John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” God’s peace is not dependent upon favorable circumstances. It is the settled confidence that the One who holds the universe also holds your life securely in His hands.

There will always be situations you cannot fix, people you cannot change, and outcomes you cannot predict. But none of those things are outside of God’s authority. What feels uncertain to you has never been uncertain to Him. While you are wondering how everything will work together, God is already accomplishing His purposes with perfect wisdom and perfect timing.

So today, loosen your grip and strengthen your faith. Release the burden of trying to control everything and place it into the hands of the One who has never lost control of anything. What you surrender to God is never abandoned—it is entrusted to the safest hands in the universe.

When you can’t control it, trust in the One who always can.

Pray with me: Father God, forgive me for the times I have allowed fear to convince me that I must control everything. Today I choose to surrender every worry, every uncertainty, and every unanswered question into Your hands. Help me trust Your wisdom above my understanding and Your timing above my own. Fill my heart with Your peace and remind me that nothing I face is beyond Your power or outside of Your care. In Jesus name, I pray, believe, receive, and praise in advance, Amen.
