THE ONE PAIR OF SANDALS I CAN NEVER WEAR
Beloved, there is one pair of sandals I can never wear—the sandals of Jesus Christ.
I can follow His footsteps. I can study His teachings. I can surrender to His will. I can strive to love like He loved and serve like He served. But there was a road only He could walk.
1 Peter 2:21 says, “Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in His steps.”
Think about the feet that wore those sandals.
They walked toward people everyone else avoided. They carried Jesus to the sick, the rejected, the broken, and the forgotten. They walked on water. They entered Jerusalem knowing what awaited Him. And eventually, those feet walked toward Calvary.
There are footsteps we’re commanded to follow—but there are sandals we could never fill.
I couldn’t wear His sandals because I couldn’t carry what He carried. I couldn’t take His place because He came to take mine.
Jesus said in John 10:27, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”
That’s our calling. Not to become the Savior—but to follow the Savior. Not to carry the sins of the world—but to carry our cross. Not to fill His sandals—but to walk in His footsteps.
So when I look at those sandals, I’m reminded of something deeply personal: Jesus walked the road I could never walk, so that I could walk the road that leads me home.
Pray with me: Father God, thank You for Jesus. Thank You that He walked the road I could never walk and paid the price I could never pay. Teach me to follow His footsteps, love as He loved, serve as He served, and remain faithful wherever You lead me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, believe, receive, and praise in advance. Amen.
I can never fill His sandals. But by His grace, I can follow His footsteps.
