Where is God?

When you are in one of life’s many transitions and/or when you feel stuck in one of life’s many valleys always remember that God will always see you through. Hebrews 13:6 says, “Therefore, we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” Sometimes we become so fixed on solving problems, running here and there (mentally) trying to solve the situation, it becomes hard to pay attention to God’s Voice. I’ve heard it said, “The devil doesn’t want to make you bad; he wants to make you busy.” Adrian Rogers reminds us that, “Faith believes in spite of the circumstances and acts in spite of the consequences.” Therefore, turn the volume down in your mind and focus on God’s still small voice so that you’re able to hear what He saying.

Don’t be alarmed!

YES, we all want Jesus to come back but we are often alarm at the things that are going on in our country and around the world. Jesus said in Matt 24:6, “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are NOT alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.” Paul said in Tim 3:1-5, “You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!”No matter what wars and rumors of war are going on around us, our mission is the same, and it just so happens that the mission is what Jesus says is a reliable predictor of the end times, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14, emphasis added).

Promise Keeper!

Joseph went from God’s dream to Pharaoh’s ring! The question is how did he do it without cracking or breaking down? For 13 years Jospeh was faithful despite his problems. I believe the meaning of the names given to his two sons written in Genesis 41:50 explains what kept Joseph sanity while he was both a slave and a prisoner. God never forgot him (Manasseh) and despite his circumstances God causes him to be fruitful (Ephraim). In addition, the dream God showed him at the age of 17 was his motivation that reminded him about his grandfather Issac; God is a promise keeper. Chuck Swindoll said,”The dross of our character—pride, rebellion, self-sufficiency—melts in the crucible called waiting. Yet it is a crucible that we do everything to avoid. We even have a cultural myth that says to wait is to waste time…And even though suffering may force us to slow down, to wait, we complain and seek solace in mindless distractions and miss the refining of our character that God intended.” It’s clear to me that Joseph’s wait was not greater than the unveiling of God’s promise. When life gets you down, and you are tempted to “give up” on God and take matters into your own hands, remember who God is. He is God, and We are not. He is creator of the universe and all mankind; He knows us and loves us and sees our situation; nothing is ever hidden from Him and more importantly what He promises will come to pass!

His Voice

Father God, You continue to speak to us Your children through Your Word, Spirit, people, angels, and audible expressions as well as through our circumstances. Lord Jesus, search us O’God and know our hearts…try us and know our thoughts and see if there be anything wicked in us and open our ears to hear with a clarion call for action. Holy Spirit, let Your voice of conviction, comfort, and confirmation be the loudest voice we hear in our ears today. Thank You for keeping us equipped with what we need to become more like Christ; in Jesus’ name…amen!

His Unfailing Love❤️

Life has its challenges and heartaches. Few knew this better than Jeremiah, who is also called “the weeping prophet.” But in the middle of Jeremiah’s troubles, God encouraged him with an amazing truth: “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning” (Lam. 3:22–23). David said, “Your unfailing love, O LORD, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O LORD . How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings” (Psalm 36:5-7). Beloved of God, the good news of everyday is knowing that God’s unfailing love is better than life itself (Psalm 63:3).

Unfolding Destiny!

What happens during the times we are waiting on God to show up? Some of us are faithful and patient. But let’s be honest, for the most part we all have a tendency to whine, complain, and belly ache. If anybody had the right to complain in OT history it would have been Joseph. He was jacked for his Gucci jacket, dropped in a BBQ pit, sold into slavery, falsely accused of attempted rape, and placed in the king’s dungeon for 2+ years. Why? All because of God’s promise over his life. Joseph’s life was filled with what seemed to be setbacks on the surface however, God used each of these situations to mature him and ultimately set him up so that His plan would be manifested through him. In lieu of complaining Joseph pain was his key to promotion, he ministered to others in his darkest time, and he never tried to push his own agenda. Perhaps while we are waiting for God’s promise to manifest destiny we should do the same!

Spiritual Growth

“I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” (Ephesians 3:16-20)

Houston Astros Living Out History

Congrats Houston Astros for winning the pennant and now you are headed to the World Series. This was an incredible victory and yes, the Stros certainly deserve the praises, accolades and recognition they are receiving and I believe they will also win the the World Series! However, no one ‘earns history’. David said in Psalm 139:16, “You saw me before I was born. #Every #day of my life was #recorded in your #book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” I know ‘#earnhistory’ sounds catchy and we are required to #putinthework to achieve our goals but it’s equally important to remember that the Author and Perfecter pre-wrote every victory and He augments our failures for His glory and our good (Romans 8:28). Karl Marx once said, “Men make their own history, but they do not make it as they please; they do not make it under self-selected circumstances, but under circumstances existing already, given and transmitted from the past.” Paul said in Phil 1:6 says, “And I am certain that #God, who #began the good work within you, will continue #his work until it is finally #finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
