FEAR ENDS WHERE FAITH BEGINS!

At some point in our Christian walk we must stop begging God and stop allowing fear to rattle our our lives. Faith is the ability and gift to survive in trusting God’s hand during difficult times. Did you know that God is not moved by need? He is moved by faith. He is touched by our need but He responds to our faith. James 1:6-7 says, “When you ask for something, don’t have any doubts. A person who has doubts is like a wave that is blown by the wind and tossed by the sea. A person who has doubts shouldn’t expect to receive anything from the Lord.” So, why do we beg God to help us in times of difficulty? Begging is motivated by fear and fear doesn’t know the will of God. Faith begins where the will of God is KNOWN and where our fear runs out, is where our faith begins.

But God!!

“As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.” Genesis 50:20

Yes, you can accept the past. No sin, no action, no choice on your part is too big for God to handle or too big to be worked out for good (Romans 8:28). Just ask Joseph! Better yet, ask his brothers who ended up relying on him for their survival. Therefore, if you find yourself in a difficult season right now, find encouragement through this reminder: God will turn it around for good. Somehow. He is faithful to His Word, and He is crazy about you. He will see you through, don’t ever doubt it. You will step out to the other side of the darkness. And who knows, but that many lives may be affected for the kingdom’s sake, because of your difficult season of struggle.

NEVER TOO FAR GONE!

If you read the story of Jonah than you know that Nineveh was the most wicked city at that time. However, after Jonah reluctantly prophesied their coming destruction; Nineveh fasted and turned from their sins (repented) and cried out for God’s mercy; the most wicked city at the time was radically redeemed. If the Ninevites could be forgiven, so can that estranged family member, that co-worker, that ex-spouse, that spouse, or even our nation. All it takes is coming to God with repentant faith and saying, “God, forgive me. I’ve tried doing life my own way, but now I want to walk with you.” If God can forgive Nineveh, He can forgive an ISIS terrorist, a hardened atheist, or simply the person who believes in God but has been living life their own way. Most of all, God can even forgive YOU and me! It’s never too late; you’re never too far gone. So, claim God’s love and forgiveness in your life today!

OVERFLOW!!

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (Luke 6:38) So what is a “good measure”. Well, back then it meant that when you bought grain in the market, the merchant didn’t do to you what Frito Lay do to us. When we open the potato chip bag we often find it half empty when we think it’s going to be full. That’s why I prefer to buy Cheetos! A generous merchant would fill his measure to the brim and then press it down and shake it so it settles so he could get a little more in before giving it to you as the customer. I got good news for you! Jesus says God is like that generous merchant – only more so! God will reward us in such abundance of blessings that they will be overflowing our basket and filling the robe in our lap. God is just that way! He will not and can not be out-given!!

God Centered

Praise should always precede our requests for God’s blessings. Not there’s anything wrong in asking a blessing from God. There’s not. Jesus taught us to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread” — but only after praise: “Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done….” No, asking favors from God isn’t wrong, but it shouldn’t be the primary part of our prayers, or we become like greedy little children: “Gimme this! Gimme that!”. Those prayers are essentially selfish rather than self-giving. They don’t fulfill either the First Commandment, to love God with all our heart, or the Second, to love our neighbor as ourselves. The Apostle Paul put it in this perspective. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6). Notice the phrase “with thanksgiving” tucked in there with “present your requests to God.” It’s essential to keep prayer God-centered rather than self-centered. It’s also the key to praying with real faith.

Dependency In Christ (Prayer)

Heavenly and Blessed Father, May the words of Your Gospel be always in our hearts. As we work in service of Your Gospel, help us work with all our might but also help us know when we have to step aside in order for You to step in and work in a mighty way. Grant us wisdom to know how to abide in You and avoid burnout. May our doxology be, “God grows it, God produces it, God knows how to make it work.” The kingdom of God is positioned in us so that we don’t have to kill ourselves to make sure it lasts. Our dependency is Christ and not in us. In Jesus’ name remind us that we walk in the light of the finish work of the cross; Amen and Amen!

Though We Stumble…..

Psalm 37:23-24 says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, when He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the LORD upholds him with His hand.” Unbeknownst to us as toddlers we all stumbled and fell throughout the course of our development. Thank God for the watchful eyes of our parents and/or caretakers. So it was back then; so it is today. We all continue to stumble in life and at some point we may even fall. Like toddlers, adults simply are not perfect. But the Lord would want you to know that even if you have stumbled, even if you have fallen down or fallen away from Him, He is there with His right hand wanting to hold you up. He will never allow you to be cast down or cast away from Him. Allow God to order your steps and He will delight in you! If you should stumble, he delights in holding you until you have returned to His path. Plain and simple….He loves you with an everlasting love and He wants only the best for you! So today repeat after me, “I will not be defeated because the Lord of angel’s army is always by my side!”

Faith Walker!

Father God, we are faith walkers and we push forward not knowing where the path will take us. Though our destiny is in Your capable hands, we are committed to doing what it takes to stay the course, finish the race, and not leave anything on the table because faith without work is dead. Equip us O Great Jehovah today with what is needed to carry out Your plans for today with deliberateness and passion. Father God, we trust the various paths You sovereignly prepared for our lives, in Jesus’ name…amen!

Use me!

God’s grace is all we need to accomplish the good works He has ordained for us to do. Come on, do you think anything is too big for God? He is able to do far more than we could ever imagine. He isn’t tied to worldly treasure nor carnal power. He holds the Kingdom of Heaven and the earth in the palm of His hands! He will accomplish great and mighty things through His Spirit. All you got to do is ask Him what He wants you to do and then ask Him for what you need to accomplish it. Then sit back and watch in great expectancy! 2 Cor 9:8 says, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”

Weight of Glory!

Joseph Saddler (bka) Grandmaster Flash said, “It’s like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wander how to keep from going under.” Jesus warned us that we would experience trouble but He also encouraged us to take heart because He has conquered the world. Beloved brothers and sisters, God is not blind to your struggles, but He allows His character to mature in you. He wants you strong and mighty with your confidence resting only in Him. Look at this way, if an athlete never exercised their physical body, they would not be able to endure the competition. God allows difficulties in your life to develop your spirit so that you may run the race with perseverance, Godly character and an everlasting hope. (Romans 5:3-4) So keep your eyes on the prize and press on toward the goal. You are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses cheering you into heaven! 2 Cor 4:17 also reminds us, “For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!”
