#VOTE2016

Yes, our vote matters but it’s God’s sovereignty that govern the affairs of this world. Read Daniel 2:21, “He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars.” Psalms 75:7 says, “It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another.” So I encourage you before you vote to pray, seek Godly discernment, and wisdom, and remember ultimately God is in control! Matt Chandler said, “Trying to figure out God is like trying to catch a fish in the Pacific Ocean with an inch of dental floss.”

SEEK GOD FIRST

Whenever I attempt to fix a problem or blame others for a negative situation, I get annoyed every time my wife tells me to, “Worry bout myself!” During times of ambiguity my wife always reaches out to God first. Needless to say, it has taken me some time to truly embrace and live out this biblical principle; however, Jesus was acutely clear in Matthew 6:33 when He said, “Seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all things will be added unto you.” It’s incumbent upon us to seek God for closure, resolution, peace, comfort, reconciliation, understanding, correction, forgiveness, mercy, grace, and love. God honors us when we honor Him as our top priority. He’s jealous of us in the right kinda way! Deuteronomy 4:24 says, “The LORD your God is a devouring fire; he is a jealous God.” So I encourage you: Let Jesus Christ be at the forefront of your thoughts and the guide of your heart during times of ambiguity! Trust that He’ll put everything else into place…..He promises.

FILL MY CUP LORD!

A ‘cup of coffee’ for most is the fuel that gets them going in the morning. Robert T. Gonzales writes, “Caffeine is the most commonly used mood-altering drug in the world, and coffee is one of the most popular means of ingesting it. Over 50% of Americans drink coffee on a daily basis, and that figure is thought to be increasing every year. But there’s more to coffee than its caffeine content, and scientists are perpetually trying to make sense of the various effects that this mysterious brew has on our bodies.” You can’t tell me the handcrafted coffeehouse favorite, Starbucks VIA® Instant White Chocolate Mocha Latte combined with natural dairy and 100% arabica coffee ain’t the bomb!! The naked truth is a ‘cup of coffee’ pales in comparison to a ‘cup of God’s love’! God is love (I John 4:8) and it’s only when we ingest His love, that we are able to endure pain, quell fear, forgive freely, avoid contention, renew strength, and bless and help others.

MY FUTURE IS SO BRIGHT, I BETTER KEEP PRAYING!

I have heard people say, “My future is so bright, I gotta where shades.” When I was a young man, I may have quoted this idiom once or twice. However, life has taught me that whenever good things start happening it’s time to “drop the shades” and “drop to my knees” in prayer. I have learned that wearing shades makes it even more difficult to survey what direction the enemy is coming from. My point is just because things are going well doesn’t mean we disengage or disconnect from praying. Look at it this way; if you only heard from a loved one or friend only when things where going bad (be honest) most will avoid their call, their text, their email, and even their knock on the door. Fortunately, the God we serve always answers our call. (Isaiah 58:9) It’s funny, we can see so much more clearer with our eyes closed and kneeled down then we can with our eyes open wearing shades.

LOVE, LOVE AND MORE LOVE

When we fuel hate with hate it will always produce greater hate. The only weapon formidable to defeat hate is love. If you are an 80’s kid then you should remember the movie Ghostbusters. Out of all the test, gadgets, and weapons used to defeat the Psychomagnotheric Slime (also known as Mood Slime and Psycho-Reactive Slime) it was a song originally recorded by the Dells but later recorded by Jackie Wilson entitled, “Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher” that literally came to life and successfully defeated the slime. In I Cor 13 we learn that love conquers all. In 1 Peter 4:8 the bible says, “Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.”

GOD’s VOICE🗣

What are the differences between the voice of God and the voice of Satan? Well God’s voice is always calming, comforting, convicting, encouraging, enlightening, leading, reassuring, and praiseworthy! Whereas, Satan’s voice is always obsessing, worrying, discouraging, tempting, seducing, cunning, condemning, confusing, pushing, frightening, trifling, and insulting! My prayer is for Jesus’s voice to be the loudest voice you hear in your ear today. Jesus said in John 10:27, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”

GOOD FRUIT!

How do you differentiate between a good tree and a bad tree? Take a look at what Jesus said in Matthew 7:15-20, “Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit. A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.” I am far from perfect. However, my goal everyday is to bear fruit that glorifies God, blesses others, and nourishes my spirit! I am resolved to be like a tree planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. And I declare that my leaves will never wither, and all that I do will prosper. (Psalm 1:3)

GOD’S RESCUE PLAN

God’s plan to rescue all of humanity from death and eternal separation would have been futile if, Jesus didn’t possess uncompromising obedience and sacrificial love. The debt we owe Christ is so substantial, the repayment plan would fall under negative amortization. In other words, even if we attempted repayment we would never payoff the principle balance. You see, what cost us nothing, cost God everything. Jesus was the propitiation and substitutionary for our past, present, and future sins. I am forever indebted but eternally grateful that God’s rescue plan and Jesus uncompromising obedience and sacrificial love included a wretched man like me.

THIRSTY?

Psalm 143:6 says, “I lift my hands to you in prayer. I thirst for you as parched land thirsts for rain.” David spirit is overwhelmed and he prays for the removal of his trouble, for the pardon of his sin, and depends (thirst) upon God’s mercy alone. Like David we should thirst for God (Ps. 42:2) Tommy Tenney said, “So many Christians today snack their way through the day on “junk-food” activities and then find they have no time to “feast” with God. We complain about our “busyness” and tiredness, but that is typically a spiritual [thirst] problem more than a problem of schedule. We desire everything except God. We take God in small doses throughout the day and week and somehow hope that on Sunday we can “catch up” on our time with the Lord.” If you are spiritually hungry, thirsty, parched or dehydrated like David stretch your hands to God in prayer and let Him quench, satisfy, and fill you with his strength, comfort, and peace!

IS GOD WAITING ON YOU?

Stop asking God to give you what He has already empowered you to get yourself. If it’s weight loss and you have all your limbs-exercise and eat healthier foods. Short on cash-stop spending money on things you don’t really need; if you can’t pay cash for it, don’t buy it. Looking for your soul mate-stop looking for treasure in trashy venues. Relationship issues-be the big person and apologize-if you’re 1% wrong you are a 100% wrong. If you have eyes-to-see and ears- to-hear-read your bible and get connected in a bible teaching church. Children acting up-spend more time with them in the word. Lack fulfillment-get plugged into a ministry and serve God by serving His people. The list can go on and on however, my point is at times you think you are waiting on God to move when in reality, He is waiting on you to take the next step!
