SONRISE

C.S. Lewis said, “I believe in Christianity as I believe in the rising sun; not because I see it, but by it I can see all else.” As I walked outside this morning I paused to view the sunrise. God’s Sunrise reminds me of His marvelous creation, love for His people, redemption, salvation, faithfulness, forgiveness, grace, and new beginnings. My home faces east and I have lived on Sunrise Street for nearly 12 years but seldom do I take the time to notice the beauty, stillness, and splendor of God’s awesome display of vitality. Psalm 113:2-3 says, “Blessed be the name of the LORD From this time forth and forever. From the rising of the sun to its setting. The name of the LORD is to be praised. The LORD is high above all nations; His glory is above the heavens…” If you missed the Sunrise today try to catch the sunset, I promise you won’t be disappointed!

“KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF”

Jon Pennington said, “To knock somebody’s socks off means to surprise somebody by showing or providing them with something really impressive. The phrase was originally documented in the American South in the 1940s, where the phrase referred to beating somebody in a fight (similar to “knock his block off”). For this reason, the phrase originally had negative connotations, but began to acquire more positive connotations as the phrase was used more figuratively as a synonym for astonishing or impressing somebody.” I don’t know about your “KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF” moments but one of my most memorable “KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF” moments was when I said, “YES” to Jesus and He “KNOCKED MY SINS OFF” and gave me a new life in Him. Talked about being astonished; words can never truly capture that moment in time. Romans 10:9 says, “For if you tell others with your own mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord and believe in your own heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

FLAWED AND FRACTURED

Jesus, You came to this world with the purpose to save this world. You came to liberate us from fractured humanity by unleashing God’s mercy on Calvary, which is the power that transform my heart of stone into a heart of love. Thank you Jesus for accepting my flawed and imperfect prayers and praise. Only You can take all my imperfections and make me perfect in You. Only You can take the old and make new. Thank You, thank You, and thank You for filling in the voids in the areas of my life where I fall short. In Your name, amen!

A SEED OF FAITH

Having faith in faith or faith in one’s ability is not real faith. True faith is trusting in the revelation of God. As believers we need to seek something that is consistent with God’s Word and trust in God’s omnipotence to provide it. Jesus assures us that a request submitted by faith will be honored, because it honors Him and our Father. Mustard Seed, Mountain-moving faith is activated by a sincere petition to God. Jesus said, “All things you ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.” The seed Jesus is referring to is metaphorically the Seed that now lives in us. When God’s commands are obeyed He will honor that obedience, and when any request is asked in faith according to His will, He will provide what is sought. To do what God says is to do what God wants and to receive what God promises.

ROCKY & RUDY

One of my most favorite comeback movie of all times is Rocky and coming in at a close second would be Rudy. Who doesn’t like it when the underdog prevails in the end? As Christians at times, doesn’t it feel like we’re the underdogs? In contrast to both Rocky and Rudy, we may not have a ‘CROWD’ of people cheering our name during life’s difficult moments, disappointments, and loses but we do have a ‘CLOUD’ of witnesses calling our names and cheering us on to pre-ordained victory. Hebrews 12:1 says, “Therefore then, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us.” Although our stories are different, for those who are in Christ; the ending of our story are all the same. If you have experience one of life’s many setbacks remember the Author and Finisher is setting you up for a miraculous, unexplainable, and unbelievable comeback.

EL SALI

NAME OF GOD: El Sali

Verse:

The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock (El Sali); and exalted be God, the rock of my salvation. 2 Samuel 22:47

Meaning: God, my Rock.

Prayer: Thanksgiving

El Sali you deserve my gratitude. You stay steady when all else around me crumbles and falls. Thank you for the power of your strength – thank you that you are my rock, you are the God of my salvation. Thank you for Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for my sins. Thank you that you not only save me for eternity but you offer me salvation while on earth. Accept my humble words and heart of prayer as I bow before you to thank you for all that you have done for me.

CAN HURT PEOPLE HELP PEOPLE?

I know it has been said,”Hurt people, hurt people.” This is a true statement but it doesn’t have to be in the lives of those who have been healed by God. Once healed, hurt people can help people. Our scars may be someone else’s source for hope, strength, comfort, peace, and healing. The bible says, “Thank the Lord! Praise his name! Tell the world about his wondrous love and how mighty He is!” (Isaiah 12:4)
