Everyday I am learning that God does not waste pain. His nature is all goodness (Psalm 100:5). Even though God didn’t create pain, He allows us to experience pain so we can cleave to Him and cry out to Him when we are hurting.
Unfortunately pain has a way of consciously and unconsciously eroding faith, however we can find peace and comfort in 2 Timothy 2:13. Paul reminds us that “if we are faithless, He remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.” Undoubtedly, God embodies absolute faithfulness; it is a part of who God is. Even when we knowingly fall or unknowingly drift away on account of our wandering and hurting hearts, God never wavers because He will never deny Himself!
This is good news!! By the power of the Holy Spirit, God in Christ Jesus is the constant even when our lives are thrown into chaos and/or spiraling out of control. When our lives starts to fall apart around us, we can trust and believe the Triune God will always be with us (Hebrews 13:8). Even when we fall away and put other parts of our lives ahead of Him.
My beloved brothers and sisters, being a Christian doesn’t mean a life of sparkling blue skies and perfect circumstances. As many of you know, we go through painful trials that test every fabric of our lives. Yet God is still a good God even when things aren’t so good. However, by fostering and adopting an attitude of trust and obedience, God can do the impossible in our lives (Luke 1:37). When we cry out to Him, He is glorified, because when we are in pain, God moves in ways we can never imagine. We just have to let Him.
