Unlovable People!

If God loves the unlovable in you why do you find it too arduous to love the unlovable in people?! Matthew 5:47 says, “If all you do is love the lovable, do you expect a bonus? Anybody can do that (Msg).” It’s easy to love people who love you back. But then there are times when it’s not so easy extend love to others, right?! In 1 John 3:14-15, John, one of Jesus’ closest friends, warns us that hating someone makes us murderers in our hearts. So how do we love the unlovable? First we have to understand that it’s not a request rather a command! Jesus said in John 13:34, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” Remember, Jesus washed the feet of His disciples (including Judas), touched lepers, and showed love to the kinds of people that others shunned. If the living God of the universe was humble enough to do those things and more, then how can we be above serving an unlovable person?!

Romans 5:8 says,”But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners [unlovable], Christ died for us.” Jesus raised the bar and set the example and in turn it’s our duty to set the example for others, through our obedience to Christ’s command!
